Birthday Celebrations

Yesterday was my 30th birthday and it was fantastic!

To start the day off, we woke up at 6:15am, got dressed and headed to a huge "Twins, Triplets and More" sale. We got there at 6:50 and there was already a long line-up. The doors opened at 7am and it was a mad dash inside. We were unprepared for what we saw. There were tables of clothes and toys everywhere (second hand but excellent condition), as well as kids/babies stuff in another section (such as strollers, high chairs, bouncers etc...). We kind of wandered for a few minutes even though we knew we needed to act quickly. We were just so overwhelmed. Once we got our bearings we got serious about finding some treasures.

Luckily the sale was very organized and the tables were marked with the sizes (0-3 months, 3-6 months). We ended up getting two warm car seat inserts, 2 front carriers (like baby bjorns), some books and DVDs, a big ziploc of socks, bibs, onesies and quite a few outfits. We had a lot of fun but probably missed some of the bigger ticket items in our hesitation to jump in. They have another sale in April and we will definitely be attending and we will be much more prepared!

After the sale we headed to breakfast at a place called Cora. I have never been there but it was so tasty! I ordered a fruit filled crepe and it was HUGE! Aden had a ham and cheese panini.

After breakfast we got ready for the day and headed out for some more adventures. We went to two maternity consignments shops and I got some really cute tops (I am too cheap to spend mega bucks on something I will only wear for a few months).

We decided to walk around a park (Confederation park) that was close to the shops. As we pulled into the small parking lot I saw someone with a wiener dog and I said, "Look a wiener dog!" I love wiener dogs. Then I saw someone else with a wiener dog. I said, "How can there be two different people with wiener dogs going to the park. Something is going on here...." As pulled around the parking lot we saw this sign:

We then looked past the sign and saw tons of wiener dogs! Apparently it was the annual event for owners with wiener dogs to get together. We parked and I couldn't stop giggling about finding a wiener dog convention. We sat on a little hill and watched all the wiener dogs. I never knew there were so many types: red ones, tan ones, chocolate brown, black, hairy and speckled. Some owners sat next to us and their dogs climbed on our legs. We pet the dogs and talked to the owners about what it was like to have a wiener dog. It was seriously the coolest, silliest thing ever to go to this event! I wish I could find more like it!

After the wiener pawlooza we grabbed a late lunch at Subway and headed home. Aden had an afternoon Priesthood session of stake conference and then we had another session that evening. It was the perfect way to end the day. Oh, and during the day I would open presents that Aden had set out on the table. We had such a full day that Aden didn't have time to make my cake... so he is making it tonight for us to enjoy. It was such a fabulous birthday!

Horray for Birthdays. Love the weiner dog convention how funny! I try to buy as many things used as I can. Especially clothes and toys! Some of Kai's favorite toys I bought for like 5 bucks on Craiglist!! Happy Birthday again!

Happy Birthday again! Did we ever tell you what happened at Cora's when we went there with our landlady the last full day in Calgary? Most embarrassing lunch ever! They have good food though.

Sounds like a wonderful Birthday. My favorite thing to do on birthdays is just stay busy the whole day long. Sounds like it was a great success. Great job Aden!

HAPPY 30th! Sounds like a great day...especially that crepe...looks so yummy! Nice work on bringing home the bargains for you and the babies. I was overwhelmed trying to register in babies R us...I can only imagine how overwhelmed you guys must have felt with ALL that STUFF! I think the weiner dog convention is a sign...you should get a weiner dog to grow up with the girls :-)
