The girlies are 9 weeks old today (or 37 gestational weeks). We are getting closer to bringing them home! Maybe by the end of this week. They have to go 5 days without a bradycardia (when their heart rate suddenly drops). They both had one on the 14th so we are counting 5 days from that point. The girls both got their RSV immunization this week as well as a few other immunizations. The girls are both above 6 lbs now.
Adalyn stayed off the nasal prongs. She has been doing great without extra oxygen. She has also been working on her feeds. She is getting better at eating her whole bottle and is needing the feeding tube less. When she can get rid of the feeding tube she will be ready to come home.

Alivia has also done a great job without her nasal prongs. She had her NG (feeding tube) taken out this week because she is eating so well. She would have come home yesterday but she has had a few bradycardias which starts the 5 days over again. Now it is looking like later this week. We think she just wanted to be with her sister until they are both ready to come home.
Some of the other babies in the NICU got sick with serratia (the infection Adalyn had in December) so they tested all the babies for it. Surprisingly Alivia tested positive for it. She doesn't have any symptoms so she doesn't need to be treated with antibiotics.

They moved all 6 babies with serratia into the same area of the NICU in order to contain the spread of it. Because they are both positive for serratia, they are both on isolation. We now don't need to worry about keeping them apart. We were able to hold the girls together for the first time.

Hopefully the girls will both be home for next week's update!

I'm so happy for you guys! Your little girls are beautiful. You're in our prayers! I hope you get to go home soon.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I'm so glad your little ladies are doing so well. Not good that Alivia tested + for serratia...but great she doesn't have symptoms and those little gals can be together now. I'm sure they've missed each other! Now keep those heart rates up and get home little ladies! :-)
I'm so glad that they are so close to being home! They are absolutely adorable. I love the picture of you holding them together.
Their cheeks are getting big! Sweet little ones! Can't wait to hold them, my family is all jealous!

I'm JEALOUS too! I wish I could come hold them!! PLEASE let us know when you are able to come out here and we'll drive up and see you guys. I'm so happy to see how big and chubby those teeny tiny women are. And I love the picture of you holding them, JJ, and them with their hands together. Ooh, SO cute!! Fingers and arms crossed that the serratia disappears...
